Senators and state representatives and officials representing the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association were also present for the announcement.

Since currently licensed minors do not need to be replaced by vertical licenses, officials anticipate it will be several years before the concept is fully realized in its actual form.

Tennessee is not the first state to use a vertical license. This concept was first introduced by Colorado in 1994. Tennessee will be the 48th state to adopt the vertical licensing concept.
